Kids Art Classes

In the attempt to create some ease in navigating through the tragic destruction of our Altadena neighborhood. We would like to collaborate with you to subsidize tuition for a family in need. We have quite a few families who lost everything in the fires but we would also like to reach out to families who may not be familiar with us, so please spread the word. This is a process oriented class focused on furthering your child's creative confidence. While exploring all kinds materials, clay, glue, wood, recycled materials, beads, buttons and fabric students will learn to problem solve, verbalize their ideas and further creative thinking. They will participate in the joyful learning through exploring sensory based materials while learning age appropriate skills. 

Flower gardens, vegetable gardens. Fairy gardens, and maybe even gardens on wheels, we will talk about how things grow and explore all that helps a seed grow, by painting, collaging, building and even doing some planting of our own. 

Kids will be making more than just jewelry. They will be making head-dresses, pendants and belts as well as necklaces and bracelets. We will be using everyday materials like duct tape and tp rolls along with beautiful beads, fabrics, feathers and lace.  Students will have the opportunity to make their own ceramic beads and pendents too. 

This is a process oriented class focused on furthering your child's creative confidence. This class is about exploring clay both for its maleable properties so kids can use hammers and rollingpins and water to see the possibilities in building. Some projects will be fired and glazed and some will not, adding other materials to decorate. We wiil make some collaborative projects that will be cleaned up and stay in the studio and individual pieces that will be taken home.

We will be using a variety  mediums, sumi ink, pencil, watercolors, charcoal to focus on depth of field, perspective, composition, shadow and mark making. Most of the drawing will be from observation but we will also do some imaginative drawing as well. We will also do some printmaking. This is a wonderful class for those who want to learn some basic technique in drawing while also finding their own voice and confidence. 

This is a process oriented class, designed for a parent/caregiver and child interactive, learning experience. While introducing your child to all kinds of materials, clay, glue, beads, buttons fabric. We'll explore printing, painting, sculpting, cutting and gluing. Some of the projects will be collaborative between adult and child but most will be watching what your child can do. Adult must be present to interact with child. The class is seasonally themed for fall, winter and spring.

From dragons to bugs, from airplanes to hot air balloons. There are so many flying things to explore while painting, paper folding, collaging, building and more. We will be doing some experiments and building flying machines. 

In this class students will explore the hand building process to create bowls and birdhouses and many things in between. They will learn many building technique like coiling, pinching, rolling.  We will start with some basic but beuatiful projects and then come up with ideas together of what to build and glaze. We use two kinds of low fire clays, terrecotta and a white and we use a variety of both underglazes and over glazes, learning glazing techniques. 

Fabric is a great material to explore all kinds of techniques both 2D and 3D. We will be printing, drawing, painting, dyeing, sewing to make banners and wall hangings Kids will also explore fabrics 3D potential with braiding and paper macheing
